Curbside PracticesItems are checked out for three weeks, with one renewal if no one is waiting for the item.
No fines will be charged or collected during this time. We encourage you to wear a face mask when picking up your items. Staff will wear masks and use hand sanitizer when handling your items. The curbside cart is disinfected between each pick-up. Please return all items in the outside book drop. |
New Curbside Services!
We now have a browsing cart upon request! The cart is full of new books in various genres, and it can be rolled out in front of the library if you want to peruse some new books. You must wear a mask and use hand sanitizer before browsing to help keep the books clean.
Printing, copying, and faxing is also available through curbside. Staff will come out, help you print or copy/fax your items, and bring the copies out to you.
Appointments can be made to use a laptop outside on the bench. You must provide an ID for staff to hold during the duration of your appointment.
Ask staff if you'd like to take advantage of any of these services!

Letter to the Farmington community from the Library Director
This last year has been a roller coaster ride of constant changes to our normal way of life. We have all had to cope with so much this past year, and the situation continues to fluctuate every day. I am here to inform you of yet another change: the Farmington Public Library will be returning to curbside service starting Tuesday, November 17th, 2020.
I want you all to know that this decision was not made lightly. I truly believe that the Library provides much-needed resources to the community of Farmington, and I have been very hesitant about making this decision. However, after watching the number of COVID-19 cases continue to rise in the state of Maine, and hearing about cases in the Farmington community, I feel that the best course of action is to return to curbside lending.
I sincerely wish that the Library could remain open to everyone in the Farmington community. It feels strange to close our doors, when all we really want to do is help everyone in whatever way we can. But the strongest way we can help our community right now is to help protect it by preventing the spread of COVID-19, and that means returning to curbside lending. The safety of the Farmington community and the Library staff is my top priority. As difficult as this decision is, I feel that it is the right one. The Library’s Board of Trustees agrees, which is why we are making this change. We all want what is best for our fellow community members.
I want to assure everyone that we will do our best to make this transition as easy as possible. Many of you already have experience with our curbside lending service. We will be open for curbside appointments from 10am-5pm Tuesday-Friday, and 10am-2pm Saturday. Please call the library at 207-778-4312 to make an appointment and request titles for pickup. Printing and faxing services will also be provided. Library staff are more than happy to help anyone who needs to print, make copies, or fax through curbside. Laptops may be borrowed for use on the Library’s bench outside the entrance. A browsing cart stocked with new titles in various genres will be rolled out upon request for people to peruse as they wish. We want to do whatever we can to make this transition as comfortable as possible for our patrons.
I hope that you all understand the reasons behind the decision. I care so deeply about the Farmington Public Library, our patrons, and the Farmington community as a whole. We want to keep you all safe and healthy throughout these trying times. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me at jesscasey.library@gmail.com or call the Farmington Public Library at 207-778-4312 and ask for Jessica Casey. I am so looking forward to welcoming you all back into the Library building when it is safe to do so. Until then, I hope to see you all utilizing our curbside offerings, and please do not hesitate to reach out! Your librarians want to help in whatever way we can, as safely as possible!
